For as long as I can remember, I've enjoyed sitting in a room with the only light coming from the branches of a Christmas tree. There's something about the glow that conjures up a connection to families that read together by candlelight, or popped popcorn over an open fire.
This year, we have three trees. The real one, in our family kitchen area, is strung with sentimental, homemade ornaments. A "designer" tree filled with white and gold, glass and angels stands in front of the window in the living room. My husband has decorated a tree downstairs, in the "man cave," with snowman lights and ornaments made during our daughter's classroom art projects. No matter what room I'm in, the light of a Christmas tree offers a warmth that seeps inside of me and makes me bubble up with a feeling of well being, of appreciation and gratitude.
I'm taking the rest of the year off folks. Wishing you all joy and warmth and a season filled with Christmas tree light.

I do manage to put a bit of festive cheer into every room of my place. Even in the kitchen and bath. It is such a warm and fuzzy time of year and I want to enjoy every moment.

Merry Christmas to you. That ornament is lovely. We only have one tree but I know what you mean about sitting in the room with only the tree to light it. It just feels like love.

ReplyDeleteWe are holding off decorating our house until next weekend, right before Christmas -- partly because my husband is out of town until then, but mostly because of our new family member, an extremely naughty kitten. Things will get broken, and we have no idea how we'll keep her out of the tree. I admire the serene beauty of your tree in that picture. Somehow I doubt ours will look as peaceful ...
I agree. Plus it reminds me of being a child on Christmas Eve sitting in the dark, no lights except the tree, the anticipation of morning. Oh, and I love that bulb. What a neat idea. Happy Holidays!

ReplyDeleteFrom the time I was a kid I loved to sit in the dark and just stare at the lit tree. I even would lie under it before the presents started filling the space. Perspective is a wonderful thing. It looks really different from underneath...
