I glanced at a picture of a bus roll-over in Florida in the newspaper Tuesday morning and then turned the page thinking, “I don’t want to read about that.” Later a friend called with the news. A woman that I have known and enjoyed for more than twenty years was on that bus. Seriously injured, she remains in a hospital far from home. Her husband, who I met for the first time two weeks ago, lost his life in the accident.
I don’t know—it’s just that when you take a vacation with your husband, you have this expectation that you will both come home. But sometimes, people don’t.
As I perused my regular blogs today, I realized that at least two of my “daily reads" have experienced losses recently, and may well be thinking the way I am right now. It may be a cliché, but I’m going to say it regardless. Don’t ever forget that life comes hard and fast and unexpectedly.
Make sure to tell the people you care about that you love them. Today.

not a good day,,and yes, I will...
I don't think we can hear this too often. In fact, I think I will post a note: Remember to say "I love you" on the refrigerator and maybe on my desk, so that I will never forget. Because we do forget, don't we?
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your friend's husband. How very tragic and awful. I pray that your friend will recover, and that she will peace.
Very sad, indeed. You never know when the last time you said goodbye to someone will have been the last time you saw that someone. That's why I always try to get a big hug.
My ex-husband and his parents went on a cruise with siblings, children, nieces/nephews, somethng like 15 of them...and the father (my ex-father-in-law)had a massive heart attack and never made it back home. It's just such a sad thought - never making it home again yourself, or someone you love never coming back home.
Loss is never something we grapple with easily. Thanks Liza for the needed reminder.
I am so sorry to hear this, and you are so right. Life is unpredictable and precious.
