  1. Oh, what I'd do for a real live--that is, live till I scrape it from its happy home--oyster to slurp! Better yet, a dozen fresh from the sea, all awaiting my not-so-discriminating palate!

Very well written article, Liza. I hadn't ever noticed that oysters were slimy...

  4. Liza, my husband loves raw oysters. I have never eaten one. The idea of it sliding down my throat makes me think of ...well, I'd probably better not say or I'll make someone throw up. Mainly me.

  5. Great article! I confess I love them, though it took a while. What helped was I covered them in mignonette sauce or cocktail sauce. After a while, I liked the oysters for themselves without the extra stuff!

  6. Ha! Rockefeller is a good start! Work your way to slimy and raw! I used to feel the same way about sushi, and then one day I finally tried it. It was okaaaaaay at first. Second time I liked it. By the third time, I started to crave it. Just sort of grows on you. Loved the article, hon. Funny stuff...oyster envy. Ha! And yes, where you live, you should probably like them! Just sayin.

  7. I love eating oysters in all forms of preparation. My favorites are in oyster stew and fried breaded oysters. I've eaten and enjoyed the raw ones, but I'm concerned about the health risks.
    Nice article.
