One of my favorite small town offerings rolls around annually. Farmers truck in pumpkins and dump them onto a neighborhood field as a fund raiser for a service project put on by our local churches. Proceeds from thousands of these orange, and now apparently designer-colored, globes go toward a summer trip to help families in need. Though I can’t for the life of me figure out how, one intrepid town member maps out an aerial design and lays out the pumpkins in a Halloween motif each October. Since most of us don’t own planes, we wait for a picture in the local paper to see this year’s design.
The lack of my own airborne photo notwithstanding, I enjoy the view from ground level.
Happy Friday folks.
Designer pumpkins, anyone? |

Ahhhh, isn't fall wonderful? Once I grew so many winter squash in my garden they filled a huge wagon and fed us until spring. Next year I want to try pumpkins.
I feel like I'm in Hagrid's back yard. Lovely picts! I need to get some pumpkins soon...
You always give me that Stars Hollow feel when I visit here. :) Love it.
Your town member= Taylor Dose (sp?) ;)
I LOVE this year's Bat signal!
Man, I wish our town did cool, festive, Stars Hollow-ish stuff like this. *sigh*
Have a delightful weekend!
I think you are a pretty "grounded" photographer,,lol, These are great shots. First time I have thought much about "fall".
Hi Liza...
I hope you don't mind that I'm commenting here on this more recent post. I wasn't sure if you'd catch it if I left it at the other post.
I'm so glad that you stopped by and left that great comment. Wow, I have to say that your post brought back even more memories of that time in my life, not to mention several laugh out loud moments.
I had this pair of red leather ballet flats and every time I'd wear them out on a Friday or Saturday night, as soon as we'd walk into this one bar, my boyfriend at the time would head straight to the juke box and play "Let's Dance" by David Bowie (put on your red shoes and dance the blues....)
I don't know if you noticed that the collar on my jacket was "popped", and I guarantee you, that I was wearing a different pair of ballet flats, with stirrup pants of course!
My folks would just shake their heads when my girlfriends and I would get ready to go out at my house and we'd come downstairs looking like the rejects from that show Denny Terrio did.... what was it? Dance Fever? (Gee, the more I write, the more memories are flowing back in!)
I could probably write for days about that part of my life. My hubs keeps telling me that I should write a book. Maybe I should write one about the 80's! Ha! Maybe I'll just dedicate Friday posts to this topic for a while instead. I hadn't planned to at the start, but now.... maybe?
Since we both hang out at Robin's and I'm also linked up at Java's 40 & Over today, I'm following your oh so lovely blog as of today. I'm also looking forward to learning more about you and reading your very funny and well thought out posts. Stop on by and say hello some time and I'd be pleased and honored if you followed me too.
Peace and Blessings,
Martha at http://a-real-upstate-ny-wife.blogspot.com/
Your photos are just as cool.
All I can say is that Lola stole my comment. As soon as I started reading and then looked at the pictures, all I could think was Gilmore Girls. I fully expected to see Lorelai and Rory pop up. Where was Luke? Kurt? Taylor? Ah, but it has given me some excellent ideas for Thursday.... now if only that dratted foe Youtube will work with me....
Oh, such magical pumpkins and pretty pictures. I wish I could hop in my fairytale pumpkin ride and visit your neighborhood. :)
It's a BAT!!! LOL New follower from Over 40!
Really loved looking at the pictures, thanks for sharing.
Now I want to take the kids to the pumpkin patch thing at the mall parking lot. Thanks for the inspiration.

Do the white ones taste like orange pumpkins? I've never seen white pumpkins.
