Storm Chasers

We are making up for the lack of winter last year.

When a whopper snowstorm threatened again this week, the worst of which was to coincide with the arrival of our daughter on spring break, I’ll tell you, I chewed a few fingernails.  But I’m glass-half-fulling it here. It stopped snowing north of here first and our daughter arrived safely.  After a 3.5 hour commute in the morning, hubby made it home at night in under two hours.  The three of us went out to breakfast Saturday and after eggs and pancakes, we took a ride to the ocean.  I'm not sure I will ever get used to the awesome power of the sea.

The first picture was taken by our daughter with her IPhone.  The second two with a digital camera.  How is it the camera phone does a better job?

While we were scoping out the pounding surf, we drove by a guy standing in front of a tripod with a huge telephoto lens, clicking away.  I'm guessing he may have taken this.  If you do one thing today, click on this link.  Trust me, you'll be glad that you did.

Wow, that's an amazing pic of Minot Light. And that storm totally missed us here in Maine; we got zip. Which is ok by me; I'm ready for spring!

We had the same stress with a child coming home for spring break. Only three hours late and her bus somehow made its connections.
The sea is amazing.

Love the ocean pictures. Even the Great Lakes in a storm are awesome. The ocean, so much so. As you say, the power of it is mind boggling. Now for your link...

Your photos are beautiful! Glad the storm held off for your daughter.
And that shot of the wave hitting the lighthouse is amazing.

That was some storm. Nature in her glory can be FIERCE. I think all three of your pictures are amazing. I never would have guessed that first one was taken with a camera phone. And that one with the water blasting into the lighthouse is exceptional. Those are the pictures that photographers salivate over I expect.

Did you get the blue ice phenomenon this year? I used to love that. If I knew where my pictures were I'd throw a couple up on my blog.

Glad they all made it home safe.

Glad your daughter got home for spring break. You know how much I love the sea. And I respect her with equal passion.

It has been kind of a weird winter, weather-wise--seems you guys south of us got the brunt of most of the snow. We ended up with just enough snow to make the roads slick, but not enough to even bother with pictures!

I love both shots by you and your daughter. I take all my pix on iPhone now. But I can't do telephoto. Thanks so much for the link to the lighthouse. That is amazing.
