I cannot tell a lie.
It’s a lot easier to get up for the sunrise when it occurs at 7:06
a.m., than when light breaks at 4:30, like it does in the summer. During a family trip to western Maine this past weekend, once my daughter informed me the sun wouldn’t make its appearance
until after my usual get up time, I decided to give dawn a try.
At 6:50 Sunday morning, I threw my coat on, stepped out to 37-degree temps
and tramped to the lake edge. We were up there; about 20 miles from the Canadian
border and most of the birds have departed for warmer territories. No one around
was awake except me.
I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced such quiet.

On Sunday I got up, stepped outside, and was swarmed by mosquitos :) (I exaggerate, a little, but you can see why I transported myself to your area as I read this)
ah! I'm an early morning gal and I'm not liking this later and later sunrise but hey ... didn't you get the best of the day in those photos! So unbelievably calm. We had a cock pheasant in our driveway on Sunday and then a few hours later a young doe wandered up it and had a look! I love it.
Oh WOW. It was worth getting up early. :)

I could kill for such quiet. There is a communion there that cannot be felt anywhere else. Sometimes I feel like California has no such place, but I know it does. I just cannot access them right now. Yet even your photos else me escape from urban blight, to serenity.
Amazingly beautiful. As a night owl, I don't often see this side of life. Your meeting with the dawn was definitely worth it. The stillness and serenity in these shots is simply and wonderfully gorgeous!
