The Calm

Something ugly is coming our way.

Current updates say Sandy will be a tropical storm by the time she reaches us.  She's so big though, they warn us not to take her lightly.  Former Girl Scout that I am, I got up Saturday morning to buy my batteries, extra water, canned foods and gas for my car.

But before I did all that, it seemed important to take pictures of this.

Amazing photos. Good luck with the storm - time to batten down the hatches and get some writing done?

Awesome photos!
Yeah, the hurricane is to hit New Jersey and collide with a massive cold storm moving south. I read some places would see a foot of rain followed by two feet of snow. Hope that's not you!!

Are you expecting that all the leaves will be blown off the trees? That's what worried me when I saw your photos. But more importantly, I hope that you and everyone else survive the storm with little damage. It's hard to predict how this one will turn out.

I hope this is not the calm before the storm! Beautiful photos of a tranquil scene - sending good wishes that Sandy will have lost her temper by the time she reaches you.

gorgeous photos. I'm still trying to gauge how the storm will affect us up here in Maine. We'll be getting a boatload of rain at the very least.

Stay well.

Hope that this storm decides to turn course and head back out to sea. Please be as safe as you can. Thoughts and prayers with you.

We haven't seen sunshine for about five days and it will be quite a few more before Sandy leaves us alone and lets it come back.

Absolutely! Capture what was, before it is no longer thus. Those fall colors make me giddy, but hunker down for what comes next.

Wow, that first photo took my breath. I'm so glad you took the time to capture that.
My thoughts are with you and everyone else in the storm's path. Stay safe.

Do take care, Liza. I hope others are as prepared as you. One can NEVER be too prepared.

That first photo... totally awesome!

That water is SO calm. I love the top photo!

Do take care. Also, make sure you have charcoal or propane to grill food as it thaws if you lose power for long.

Oh, stay safe and dry! And good idea taking a picture of all those lovely leaves before they're blown away. I live on the west side of the country, so I know it's no real comparison, but we do get a lot of wind tunneling down our valley and it's amazing how the beautiful fall colors so quickly blow away! Praying for all of you on the east coast! <3

I keep meaning to go beyond my Google Reader and comment on your beautiful photography, alas, I'm so far behind on everything. So, I'm just stopping in quickly to say, "Oh, wow, these pictures are truly lovely, Liza!"
