Birds of a Feather

I was going for  a picture of the hummingbird...

But then these guys showed up.  Anyone know what they are?

I took the photos through a window, so they're not the best. But this is less about the photos and more about the lesson.  I spend a lot of time watching for hummingbirds, and don't usually pay that much attention to what else is out there.  Perhaps I need to broaden my horizons.

Wishing you all a week filled with bright surprises.

I saw my first hummingbird in ages up in North Carolina. Was a great moment.

They look like American Goldfinches to me. Nice shots. Sometimes we are so focused on one thing that we miss other things around it. :)

I know very little about birds, but I love the photos. :)

I've seen so many hummingbirds this year in my flowers. I've also often wished I had my camera ready to get a picture. Don't know what those colorful strangers are.

Goldfinches sounds like a good guess to me.

Both shots are great! I don't think I'd ever be fast enough to catch a photo of a hummingbird, let alone have it come out. I would guess the yellow ones are goldfinches, but I am not an expert.

That's a goldfinch. Sweet little guys aren't they?

Definitely Goldfinches (I confirmed w/my son the birder). We have them at our feeder at work all the time so I was pretty sure that's what they were. Awful pretty aren't they?

Birds are such fun to watch! The goldfinch certainly looks like a little bright spot of sunshine in your garden.

Not a bird expert (even remotely), but I immediately thought goldfinches. I read the comments and Marcy's comment confirms that was a correct guess.

As you say, so many beautiful things out there. We tend to limit ourselves.

Goldfinches. I saw some on my farm today. They were eating seeds from the thistle plants in the barnyard, which reminded me I should have cut down the thistles before they went to seed.

I would love to have bird feeders but they would have to be set up very well so they wouldn't become cat feeders--- I have a lot of barn cats. I'd hate it if they ate a hummingbird or goldfinch. Besides which, if they have to kill a bird I want them to go for the barn pigeons. More meat on it and they are a nuisance in the barn loft.

Thanks for sharing the lovely pictures.

God bless you,
Nissa
