IWSG May 2016

It is IWSG day, and the only thing I can think to say is…just write.  I’m still struggling with my current novel, but I refuse to call it writer’s block because…Look Ma, I’m writing now! It’s always possible to write…something.  I just submitted a 550 word essay on spec to a local rag.  I got the idea this morning, finished it this afternoon, read it out loud about fifty times and pressed send.  It’s not the story I should be working on, but the words flowed and who am I to stop my muse, even when she goes galloping off in the wrong direction?

Do I have words of wisdom here?  Hmmm.  I’m not sure.  How about this?  Even the wrong words can be (wait for it…) write?

If you can crank out an essay in a day, you can write anything!

Whenever I deviate from my course, I always remind myself that writing, any writing, is all practice and eventually practice pays off.

Ha! Love it!

And don't stop that Muse! Let her go gallivanting if need be. :)

Absolutely! When the muse comes, oblige her. Great post.

even if it's an embellished grocery list, it counts. I try to be creative with a note a day in my husband's lunch bag. You've truly been writing and I've read your blog posts and your confidence keeps growing. Write-on !!!

Hi Liza - exactly if you can write up a story and send it off - you are writing and showing your muse - you're still with her ... so good for you ... cheers Hilary

I think those detours the muse takes gives our brain a chance to mull over our other projects and come back to them with fresh ideas. :) Happy Mother's Day to you, Liza!

Gotta feed the muse! Write away and see what you have at the end of the day. Happy writing!

I think those are great words of wisdom! And congrats on getting that short piece done and sent out so quickly, it's such a great feeling when that happens.

Keeping writing is the important thing and it can actually help to work on something else if we're stuck on a project. Great job!

Love the pun, Liza. It sounds like your muse knows what she's doing. Glad you listened to her

I love your last sentence. :)

Yep, it'd be foolish to ignore our muse when she wants us to write about something entirely different from what we set out to write. What matters is getting those words down on paper... or on screen.
